What is freez-drying?
Freeze-drying is a method of drying through deep freezing and sublimation. It preserves the product in nearly its original form—taste, nutrients, and structure. Freeze-dried products are lightweight, durable, quick to prepare, and suitable for various uses (from food to medical and research).
Why Freeze-Drying Matters
Freeze-dried process is time-consuming and uses 3 times more energy than conventional drying, so it is only used for sensitive and expensive products.
Freeze-drying is primarily useful for preserving temperature-sensitive products whose essential properties are lost or damaged if processed in another way. Although it is an energy-consuming and time-consuming process, which is reflected in a slightly higher price of the final product, it has a number of advantages:
- drying of sensitive nutrients, e.g. raw dog food
- preservation of nutrients, vitamins and minerals,
- rapid dissolution in water,
- good tolerance of temperature changes,
- lower weight and practical packaging.

How to feed freeze-dried food?
Another advantage of freeze-dried raw food is that it can be stored at room temperature and served straight from the bag. Good4Dogs Ever Fresh freeze-dried food is available in 0.5 kg packages. One package is enough to prepare several meals, depending on the size of your dog:
- Small breeds (5 -10 kg): 35 – 70 g per day
- Medium breeds (10 – 15 kg): 35 – 70 g per day
- Medium-large breeds (15 – 25 kg): 105 – 175 g per day
- Large breeds (25 – 36 kg): 175 – 252 g per day
The amount of freeze-dried food represents 1/3 of a meal, to which 2/3 of water is added. So, if you offered a small dog 50 g of freeze-dried food, pour 150 g of water over it. Wait a few moments for the food to absorb moisture and offer it to your puppy. The meal can be offered as a separate meal or as a supplement to regular food, in which case reduce the amount of freeze-dried meal accordingly.
